And overjoyed because, while she really doesn’t care all that much about Farm Dude, he’s a guy she likes, and who paid attention to her, and who gave her the sexual attention she wants. (Because it’s less about him as a man; and much more about how she feels when she’s with him, and that he reminds her that she can still attract men, and she still has sexual power, and all that. Farm Dude’s sexing her validates her as a woman, and there’s no greater aphrodisiac.) She’s also overjoyed because she knows that she still has some sexual power over Farm Dude. After all, he drove 60 miles to see her, and not for any other reason, and they both know it.
Well, his dumping the coffee sent her over the edge. He did it because he’s genuinely hurt and pissed. She sees it as a DHV, an “IDGAF what you or anyone else thinks”. Tingles ensue. She now notices him as a man. His “alpha” cred shot up 100%; making Good Man look like a sniveling pussy boy by comparison. She probably would have sexed him right then and there. If he had said “get in the truck and come with me”, she would have thought very, very seriously about doing it.

I was shocked to find the short story (sci-fi) The Cold Equations in a high school lit book. The theme, and it’s made in a heart-breaking fashion, is that arithmetic always wins. No matter your feelings. That’s not the educational zeitgeist, whatever a zeitgeist is.
But it isn’t just women–women possibly more than men but not only–who think feelings and desires have primacy over the laws of nature. Of physics.
And anybody who points out that the laws of physics are going to win is a big meanie. Or, even, a conservative.
So the guy acting as if things will go his way and he needs no Plan B, or even some prep for Plan A may impress the particularly impressionable and gullible, but those women will get you in trouble.
